How to Save Your Animals from the Heat

Vet clinics see heat stroke and deaths among BC pets during soaring temperatures.“We’re seeing a significant increase in patients who are suffering from heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” she said, and added while it’s not entirely uncommon in the summer months, it usually happens when animals are playing outside and get too hot, or in cases when pets are left in cars. “The patients that we’re seeing are just in their yards, in their homes, and unable to cope with this exceptional heat level.”

What to do:- Bush-McLean recommended cooling methods using towels wet with tepid water, rather than ice-cold, to drape over a pet and then be replaced frequently. She said a kiddie pool can also help for dogs, or a wet towel kept in the fridge or freezer to apply when needed. She also suggested taking pets to a cooler place that’s air-conditioned, if possible.- Using water to wet a pet’s fur, as the evaporation will help with cooling.- People can also fill bottles with cool water or ice for animals to access, or use a cooling mat.

*Repost from my Facebook account - Monica Donetti Ross*

We made our way to Costco and we bought as much water as our cars could hold.
I have attached a list of the necessities that are very much needed.
They will be there tomorrow again at the corner of Fraser HWY and 275 in Aldergrove.
This is the very least Carlo, Monica and I could do to help out the Lytton evacuees.
There is a very strong possibility I might head out there again tomorrow and I can pick it up locally, or you could drop it off at my home tomorrow morning.
FYI this group is also collecting for the Fire Rescue teams in the area.
They are in dire need of Gatorade, water, and more water...
They also need power and protein bars...
Let me know if you can help, I will gladly deliver as this is so very much needed

PS thank you Donna for dropping the water and teddy bears. I am sure many children would love the comfort of a stuffed animal right now

This was our set up...

MARINE DRIVE TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURE: HELP FOR WHITE ROCK RESTAURANTS

*Credits to White Rock City*

"The City of White Rock has temporarily closed one lane of traffic on Marine Drive starting June 7 to extend patio space for restaurants, helping them during the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision was made by City Council at a meeting on May 10, 2021.

Eastbound travel is permitted on Marine Drive from Vidal Street to Maple Street. Westbound traffic is closed between Maple Street and Vidal Street. Vehicles can detour via Maple Street to Victoria Avenue and Columbia Avenue or via Stayte Road and more northerly east/west streets. The westbound lane on Marine Drive will have traffic barriers separating pedestrians and diners from motorists.

The safety of diners and pedestrians is a top priority, as is access to parking for Marine Drive residents".

"Buying a Second Property" - Luisa Hough

*Blog Repost from Luisa Hough*

If you've been thinking about buying a second property read this blog by Luisa Hough. The information is unreal!

"Whether you’re looking to buy a vacation property, start a rental portfolio, or help accommodate a family member, there are many reasons to buy a second property (while keeping your existing property), which might make sense for you!

Now, while there are many great reasons to buy a second property, there is also a lot to know as you walk through the process. The key here is to have absolute clarity around your why.

Ask yourself, why do you want to buy a second property? This isn’t a decision to be taken lightly or one that should be made too quickly. Buying a second property should be a strategic decision that allows you to accomplish your goals, and it should include an assessment of your overall financial health.

The conversation about buying a second property should include assessing your overall financial health, leveraging your existing assets to lower your overall cost of borrowing, and figuring out the best way to accomplish your goals.

And as it's impossible to outline every scenario in a simple blog post, if you’d like to discuss your goals and put a plan together to finance a second property, connect anytime. It would be a pleasure to work with you".

"The Luxury real estate market in Vancouver was one of the most feverish in Canada and even attracted world attention - until 2016".

This is when local authorities implemented several new taxes.
Prices peaked in August 2016 and for the next 3 years, the luxury market in Vancouver continued at a much more muted pace.

Strangely the Coronavirus pandemic has played a role in promoting growth.

Vancouver will again be a top destination for offshore buyers of Luxury properties. Meanwhile, local buyers are seeking to upgrade and acquire more space which has been driving the Luxury Market during the pandemic.
